Lions Den-Cliff Drive 8-20 Saturday Air Show day! (It's an EVENT!!)

I'm pumped about this event.  I've been wanting to play cliff drive for a while, and my buddies and I even made an ill fated journey up there one morning to find cliff drive closed on the weekends.  Were from Less Summit, so were not that familiar with the area and played swope instead. 

I've also been wanting to play in a tourney this summer, so this will be the perfect chance to do both while listening to some kicking tunes and having a refreshing beverage or two.  And did I mention I'm also a Leo (Aug 1st) so this is just perfect.

Even with the drive closed on the weekends, the course is accessible, you'll find that out this weekend, although it will be a much smaller configuration of the course, not one that is typically played ever out there....

Looking at the flyer, I see one correction: the Blue Bird Series (MO P&R Series) is at Water Works on the 27th, not Swope.

Since mapquest already led me astray once, due to cliff Dr being closed, what is the best way to get into the park Sat am?  I'm coming from Less summit.  I can go I70 or 470 to 435 or 71.  Looking at the map, it seems like I70 to prospect is fastest, but what about closed roads and the like?

I-70 West to Prospect.  North (right) on Prospect.  Just follow it until it ends.  It ends right into the park where the course is.  Look for the baskets.

Ok, I'm confused now.  My buddy just downloaded a flyer, suposedly from this site somewhere that lists the event as being on Sunday the 21st?  The title of this thread is "...Saturday 8-20..."  Can someone confirm which day this event is occuring on, Saturday or Sunday?

Saturday Aug 20, 2011.  I don't know what flyer says that.  It is always on Saturday.

Dick Parker spearheaded the stage construction tonight.  Mark Stiles, Mark Moseley and myself added the help.  THe stage is built, the course is close to being marked.  Hole #3 (#7 in this layout if you are unfamiliar with Cliff Drive) got a small haircut, around the green and the pad, but needs more work done.  I haven't been up by the original #1.  I will be moving #8 (#1 for LDO) tomorrow to the long placement if any of you want to play it long.  The course will still be set up in its original configuration, and maybe in the future we have alternate chances to play the course, (minus #8) or play the tourney course. 
Dont forget the travelling trophy comes to this event as well........so far I have been fortunate enough to win the last 2 yrs.....I like it on my table.....so I don't want you to take it from me.  It goes to the lowest score now* (See Pete Cashen for this argument)........

Ohh....the mini course is tagged out there as well, so please don't move the flags.  I will be out there tomorrow as well placing wooden stakes for the road tee shots, please if you can park close enough to protect the area to give room to tee off.  It would help, watch for paper signs for hole #'s and parking and NO PARKING areas.  If you would like you may be able to park before #18 pad on #17 fairway if it gets that bad....but you may get blocked in if you park there from the road parking......If you could start parking diagonally that would be ideal.....just trying to help get more cars out there to ensure people can fit.

Its looking great out there and I am happy that everyone can come and enjoy it!

Rain looks like mainly in the early hours .. Breaking and then a 30% chance at 5pm but I'm going to do my anti-rain dance tonight.   With my luck this week I think I deserve a nice day tomorrow.
