5:00 tee tonight

As announced last week, tonight and for the next couple of weeks we tee at 5:00.

We proved that you can tee off at 5:07 with a 5 some for 9 holes and then a 6 some for 9 holes and finish at 7:30 tonight....an outrageous 40 mins before sunset.......

Question.... Why the heck do we have to start early on a short course?

5:30 with 3 somes and maybe 1 4 some.  Golden until Oct.

I change the start time in 30 minute intervals. I keep the same start time for three weeks. I based my start time decision on the fact that an average foursome takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to play PC, and the sunset calender for Olathe. Shown below is the September Mondays sunset and civil twighlight times for Olathe. One must also consider the possibility for cloudy and overcast skies, that shortens the civil twighligt period considerably.

September 12 Sunset: 7:36pm, Twi: 8:03pm
 
September 19 Sunset: 7:25pm, Twi: 7:51pm

September 26 Sunset: 7:13pm, Twi: 7:40pm

We could always just keep the start time at 6:00 and finish with GLOW lights. Or, we could start at 5:30 as suggested by the illustriuos Dick and Andy, and have GLOW lights ready in case it did get dim. 

Neither will be the case however. Start time for the rest of September is 5:00.

It's kinda funny that in the short time I've been playing, and reading these forums, the "Time Change" conversations stay the same each year.....lol.....just sayin'

Actually, we finished 6 minutes before sunset, and 33 minutes before full darkness.

I know it can be a hassle for some trying to make it to league on time but starting at 5 is nice because we don't have to worry about pressing for time.  Last thing I wanna do during a beautiful night like last night was is to stress about playing fast or feel like being a dick (no offense Dick) to casuals and not allow them to play through.

None taken.  But having 3 some at 5:30 can get done in the same amount of time as a 5 some at 5:00

I don't disagree with you at all Dick.  Especially at Olathe...I think WW should start at 5 before Olathe does.  We could easily start at 5:15 and still finish in plenty of time.

Next Monday, October 3rd will be the final daylight KCFDC weekly Monday mini at Prairie Center of 2011. We will tee at 5:00.

I will take a few weeks break from running an organized weekly, and then commence the season 7 of PC Monday GLOW. Details on that will be coming....... I'm thinking we will start the GLOW season off on Monday, October 31 (Halloween).

any scores from the 19th?  just curious that it might have been my lowest league round to date.  also can we buy lights for glow league at league or do i need to get some somewhere else?

Thanks to all who came out for the weeklys this season. The ACE fund was depleted on the first week, but has since rebuilt nicely. The course is set short, so come get some of that ACE $ tonight.
