In Jack's defense... Here is the story of his second round David vs. Goliath trial...
........Jack made it very competitive, until some stranger with a lead pipe ran up and hit in the shins while he was on pad 11.
Some guy named Jeff (Gillooly?) came at me during my round at WW and rubbed up against me....said something about making sure I was relaxed....... :o

Big congrats to Eastwood, who came back strong against a TOUGH Shanan to go all squared on that match!  I had written you off as a loss, so glad I was wrong!

There were a lot of tough matchups. East side prevailed, but I'm sure West will come back fightin next year. Bring it on!! What an awesome event to get started!!

How is this not a Sticky with the original intent?  I wanted to ask for a *Option.

Integrity option for those that desire it.

If after making the team, an individual moves to the other state, they may play after serving a 1 year "tax".  By that, you still would need to qualify for the team, (Even a captains pick can be used, though.... :-/ ) but would have to sit out one year, after that you can rejoin the team.

Those individuals that already switched state lines, playing for both, yeah you can do it, but if you want to pledge your allegiance, you have to sit out a year, from then on you couldn't also switch teams.

Thoughts?

Obviously but I was thinking primarily of Peter.  I really applaud his desire to remain true to the team.  I mean we work and live in other state, and pay taxes in 2 in so many situations, this seemed to be the one that I liked, however someone at my table discussing it....said MOVE THE THE STATE YOU WANNA PLAY FOR, it is that simple.....  I didn't like that stance.

In Australian Rugby, there's a series of 3 games called the State of Origin series.  It's sort of like their all star game.  I think the rules change from time to time, but your "Origin State" is the state where you play your junior rugby career.  It never changes.  BTW, as a sports fan, I would HIGHLY recommend checking it out.  Unlike the all star game, the players really want to win this series.  Hence the comparison to our EvW event.

While simply "moving to the state you want to play for" sounds simple, there are way more family/medical care/housing concerns to worry about outside of disc golf.  Because of KC's proximity to the board, I believe the side you live on can constantly be in flux, but the state you have allegiance to can be constant (sort of like a college alma mater).  I think in 2020 something along those lines would be worthwhile to consider.

I'm obviously biased on the whole thing, but I really feel like each team should just be able to have one or two 'exception' spots.

Like one of the Captain's Picks can live on the other side of the state line. Surely that's something that both teams could benefit from?

Maybe that person can only play in one round or something? To keep it fair to the current residents who worked hard to qualify? I'm trying to give concede somewhere, surely there's a compromise in there.

I disagree.  The rule should stand.  I do think we should clarify when the date it becomes effective.  We have very extensive history of people switching statelines and playing for the other team.  Shanan Carson, Jake Lazzo, Ashlyn, Frank Weaver.  Brandon Melton was going to then didn't or whatever the story was for that.  We even had Chris Clemons who grew up in MO, currently now lives on the road, but lists KCMO on PDGA, played for KS team in the past because he lived in KS.  Those are the rules.  I understand you don't like the rules, but they are there for a reason.

I would just like to point out that it was a MO resident who brought this up (as per usual when wanting to change the rules, see: Amanda Jackson) and not the KS side. We have always and will always play by the rules.

Also, Brandon Melton moved back to KS so that's what happened there. Rules...
