30th Kansas City Wide Open

That is when we have the camping area at Lake in the Woods at Swope.  We hope to have a large contingent of happy campers that could come to town beforehand and enjoy KC in some camping with showers, available, and then play all the local courses to your hearts delight.

Actual tournament dates will be June 1, 2, & 3. 

Events and other fun things to do will begin probably on Tuesday the 29th, with Thursday the 31st having many fun things to do at Swope so take the afternoon off work and come and enjoy!

Here is some idea of the playing schedule:

As of right now I think that the ADV and Pro Fields are all set with regards to the BV, BS, Rosie, WW, Swope.

The"B" Tier could see the use of the K-7 Corridor courses, Olathe, Shawnee Mission, WyCo. 
The B-Tier will be all amateur divisions not on the Adv side and they will play 3 rounds, 2 saturday and 1 Sunday.

Sun-Swope

(B)Age protected ADV and Pro Div:
Fri-BV-BS

(C) Adv Men & Women

Now this is up for discussion still, but should have it planned within the week as we may go the K-7 Route instead of this, but if we go this way everyone plays on the same courses....

(D) Int or Int/Rec
Sat-BV-Swope
Sun-BS

(E) REC/Novice
Sat-WW-BS
Sun-BV

The above though may be limited to 90 players and only one field, if that is the case you would only see a (D) pool configuration.

There will be camping available at Swope this year as well in Lake of the Woods, we hope to be able to have over 100 people staying there.  We have the camping area reserved from May 25-June 4th.  More information to follow, but that place shold be hopping the entire time!!

This was corrected, to state the standard PDGA fees are included in the prices above, what is not included is the $10 non-PDGA fee if you are not a current member for the "B-Tier" portion of the Wide Open and can qualify if you have a PDGA rating below the standards ( http://www.pdga.com/ratings )

Jack, just curious: How close is this campground to the KCPD Mounted Patrol stables?

My 83 cubic inch V-twin gets about 40 to the gallon, so I suppose I can utilize it on my practice runs this Spring to the far East.

Blue Valley on the "short configuration" still will be close to 8000' though, and it will be shotgun starts all weekend as well for all divisions this year.....The only non short pad at Blue Valley (there are 6 new pads out there, pads affected are as follows-3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 13)  ( http://kcfdc.org/forum/index.php?topic=7118.0 ) will be hole #10.  Alternate pins will be on #1, #3, #8, #9, #11, #12 (in its "orignal configuration" for ease of arguments) you do not play #17 or #18.  Finish on #16. 

Holes #3 is just up the hill, then walk a little bit to south to new pad for #4. 
Then on holes #9 and #11 they have been split into 2 holes each. 
9 plays to the top of the hill, then go play to the long placement. 
11 plays shorter downhill then a clowns mouth to the original placement. 
12 then plays across #13 fairway and then a pad behind trees goes back to original #13.

It plays much nicer, and even though you are still walking in Blue Valley, there are quite a bit of holes that make you feel human (well at least this weenie arm)  I should be able to shoot low 60's high 50's after a few more tries out there on it.

You will play that and Blue Springs the same day, so a big change in styles should be interesting to see who shoots higher at Blue Springs than at Blue Valley....  Can you say control concerns?

hmmmm....was excited to play in my first WO, but at least $65 (approx) to enter definately puts a damper on that exictement.  That's almost 2 other tourneys!  I would definately enter ADV Masters over Int/Rec if the K7 is used (havent played SM and only played Olathe and WyCo once each plus further away from the "real" action)....but that would also mean $25 more (a 3rd tourney).  May just sit out this year and improve my game for next year. Definately glad to have a heads up.  Sure hope the players packs are gold plated and loaded and there is all the adult beverages you want for that price.

If youra pdga member it is only 55. Honestly that isn't that bad of a price.  I wouldn't miss this if I were you Dale.
