The plan is to use Swope Gold for all the Swope rounds.

I have found a spot with very inexpensive spray paint......do you think that the paint and flags will be enough Chris?  I know that we had a blast removing the string from the golf cart last year!

March 24th at Swope campground we will be having a volunteer/fun day planned with camping as well that night.  We will have some libations, and possibly some food as well for those that choose to spend the evening there.

Many of the games that will be part of the Wide Open will be on display that day as well.  So there will be some golf being played early in the afternoon, then head over to the camping party/engagement!

Please plan on attending to have many Wide Open questions answered as well!!

Thanks,

Jack

What is the weather plan for this?  Probably going to be pretty muddy for camping??

Will anything be going on Sunday?  Going to be there for a CC playoff at 2:30....may come early if stuff is still happening.

We will be discussing this as the week progresses regarding the weather plan....we may have a few options to work on that would allow the games to continue, but maybe not the camping if the ground can't support it.....more to follow as we watch the weather as well.....

Who all went to the camping excursion at Swope?  I think that the next day is April 21, after the Swope Spring Renewal, any details?

2012 KCWO - Blizzard Champion Dominators!

Disc Golf World is proud to be a part of the 30th Annual Kansas City Wide Open! We are now offering a pre-released run of Blizzard Champion Dominators in-store and online! These will also be available at Dynamic Discs in KC, along with other online vendors nationwide very soon. A list of all participating vendors will be posted soon on the kcfdc.org website.

Each purchase of these Dominators, which are speed 13 drivers with a stability between the Boss and the Katana, supports the Wide Open.

Wide Open Update: We Want Players and Helpers

Tee off for KC Wide Open XXX is less than two months away. We're planning on hosting around 400 players, and are going to need some help to make this historic event as good as it possibly can be. We need players and we need helpers.

If you are playing, you can register in several ways:

1. By downloading an entry form at http://kcfdc.org/docs/30thkcwideregistration.pdf

2. At pdgasignup.com: http://tinyurl.com/kcwoxxx

3. At Dynamic Discs web site:  http://dynamicdiscs.com/Disc-Golf-Tournaments

4. At  Disc Golf World, 509 E 18th St. Kansas City MO 64108 or by calling 816.471.3472

5. At Dynamic Discs, 2854 West 47th Street, Kansas City, KS 66103

There are many ways you can help out during the event. We need volunteers to form Grounds Crews at each of the five courses we're using: Swope, Rosedale, Blue Valley, Water Works, and Young. Grounds crew members will make sure there is drinking water on the course, the tee pads are kept clean, OB markers are intact, banners and tee signs are in place and taken down, spotting during the rounds, and other related tasks.

While it would be great to find people who are available for all five rounds, we understand that for many people this will not be possible. So, if you can help out for only a round or two, that would be great. Help is needed for the morning rounds from 7:30 to about noon, and then from noon to about 4:30 in the afternoon. These time frames may change slightly after the schedule is set.

Some other tasks (but not all of them!) include helping out with the Triple X Games, plugging scores into a computer, carrying a leader board and scoring the final nine, spotting, post-event course clean-up, helping with player check-in on Thursday and Friday, course preparation (including marking OBs for Swope Gold), painting putting circles for each green, helping with the Youth Clinic and the NT Clinic on Thursday, soliciting sponsors, selling ads for the KC Wide Open Commemorative Program, and on and on.

Volunteering to be a member of a staff that pulls off a great disc golf  tournament is rewarding in and of itself and lots of fun. However, volunteers will receive tournament scwhag. People who can volunteer for all five rounds as a Grounds Crew member will get more benefits, including free entry to the Saturday Night Soiree that will be a party you do not want to miss.

If you think you may be interested or able in helping out or have questions about anything related the Wide Open, please call me at 816.471.3472 or send an email to kcwo@discgolfworld.com.

Hi guys!  I'm not sure if my shoulder will be ready for this...
Was wonderin- if I pre-reg & can't play, you'll refund my entry, right?

If I don't play, I'll volunteer to help   ;)

Where would I go to possibly volunteer? I'd love to see a tournament or 2 before I actually compete.
