Looking for high-res photos of 2010 open division champion Eric McCabe and women's open champ Jennifer Allen from the event. Awards photos are fine as are any they show faces.

Also, if anyone has historical Wide Open photos from 1983 to 1993, I'm very interested. We'd scan them and get them back to you.

Thanks

I have not been around disc golf that long and may be missing something here, but why did the event in Emporia in April have 400ish people signed up 2 weeks before the event and we have an NT yet are only at 150ish for the 30th Wide Open?

The biggest difference seems to me to be the intermediate level, where Emporia had well over 100 and we are at 15ish.  The argument that the 3 rounds hurts the draw seems poor since ALL of Emporia's levels only played 3 rounds.

Is it normal to have a late surge of sign-ups for the open?  I hope so, because I would like this to be a BIG event.

I was talking to someone about this the other day, who noted that the GBO has more people play (usually) than the KCWO, but I feel like the KCWO is the NT Event and has more prestige.

Not sure why, this is my first year playing either event so I'm not sure.

I've been actually thinking along these lines as well, but wasn't going to post.  Now the cat's out of the bag...

One thing may possibly be the Pro Purse.  GBO tends to be larger.  DD also seems to have a pretty big draw from TX and OK, KC is another 1.5 hr farther north.

I was surprised on how strong the Intermediate turnout was for GBO.  It may have to do that it is early in the year and people have cabin fever and want to get out and compete.

2011 DD players playing in the KCWO:

Nikko
McCabe
Uli
McBeth

and more.

The Open signup will fill I believe.  It's an NT event, they want the NT points.  The B - tiers, I'm kind of wondering.

As a Novice signee, I would be up for having the Rec and Novice all put into a Novice pool.

One tournament promotes itself a wee bit more than the other. Consider it the difference between a youth movement and an old guard approach to rock-n-roll. Hype has a way of blowing things out of proportion and making things appear greater than they are. It boils down to perception - One appears better than the other, even if the merits are equal.
