"The work he has been doing there for YEARS" might be a better way to phrase it.  He hurt his back a couple years ago dragging all those giant stones around.

I talked to Steve at the Ice Bowl. He's been trying to get there for some work in the afternoons at 2pm. If you want to get in on the improvements he's been making he could sure use the help. 2pm on afternoons where the weather is tolerable is what he said.
