New DGer in town
« on: February 03, 2012, 06:22:13 PM »
Hi,
Am from UK and have recently moved to KC. I live in Overland Park and want to get some discgolf in. I was hoping there would be some / someone who would show me round the local courses, particularly Rosedale..

Quite keen to get out this weekend at some point but anytime in the coming weeks would be good

Let me know,
sam

Sam,  Welcome to KC!  You will find no shortage of players at Rosedale.  And, virtually anyone will be willing to show you the courses.  Rosedale is the most heavily played and the most social course in Kansas City!

If you are looking for a competitive round, Saturday at 12:30 Rosedale down under doubles league.  Dr. Jay, the league master, is out of town; but, I am sure he will find someone to run league.

The three Tom's played a round with Sam Sunday at PC. I'd guess he is in the top five far throwers in KC right now. Also a kewl dude. He didn't know Ali G.

Just for grins, we should have a distance contest amongst KCFDC members and/or anyone who wants to throw a few to see where they stack up in KC.

I can throw 600 feet. The problem is that it takes me at least two throws to do so.
Missouri....our state animal is sterile, our state rock is lead, and we elected a dead guy to the U.S. Senate.  Of course, he was the best candidate.

Me too, but I can do it in one throw.......just off the parking area on Cliff at hole #13 towards the railroad tracks..... ;D

Problem is that no basket is in that direction....... >:(

Distance contest sounds like a local issue for the club championships, or at the Wide Open, possibly have a list of KCFDC members to keep seperate, good idea!

I think we used to do that at the old club picnics.

In the mid-to late 90s, we held Mo and/or KS state overall championships featuring distance, accuracy, MTA, golf, and at least one year, we did Double Disc Court. The most fun ones were at Rosedale when they coincided with the chiropractor's big birthday party, complete with a roasting hog, a beer truck, and live music. I forgot the guy's name, but he owned Westwood Chiropractic, and would always invite us over. These were held in mid-September.
