Dragon Ridge - Lake of the Ozarks
« on: May 12, 2012, 06:59:39 AM »
I did a forum search and couldn't believe no one has posted about this course.  For those of you who make weekend lake trips you must check this out.  It is located in Camdenton right off Business 5 in their city park. It is 10 holes of heavily wooded, light ground growth, extreme hiking awesomeness with some very unique pin placements. First course I've played with a warning to skip ahead on the course if you aren't prepared for the terrain ahead.  I will be posting a few short videos and some pictures in the near future.  Let me know if you have played it and your thoughts.

Bring lots of water, in a month it will be hot, and it is quite the work out playing, I am kind of glad it's only 10 holes.  Let me know your thoughts on it!

It is a blast.  I need to get a review posted on the course review site.  With this being it's first summer open I hope a lot of people find out about it.  Kevin, did you see anywhere they could potentially put in another 8 holes to get a complete 18? I didn't spend much time looking around the park, but I hope it's possible.

If they can go to the east and south a little more maybe. It seems like to the north is out but two or three holes could probably be put in to the east of 3-5 going up hill. And there might be a little more room to the east and south of #1. I'd really like to play it with it set long. Every hole had a short and long pin placement but it was all set short making it easy for me to shoot -2 which should have been even lower. But the longs looked really interesting. Either way you have to be able to get through clean. Very reminiscent of Rosedale Down Under but more rocky and much steeper in spots. And the rock formations and wildlife I were really cool. Deer, grey squirrels and chipmunks all over the place.I plan to get down there again soon and hope they move some long before I get there.

I feel like a lot were set long when I played it and it was pretty tough.  I loved the hole that followed the creek and had the pin up on the rocks above the creek. It would be a crazy hole after a lot of rain and the creek was flowing.

I saw the pin placement you are talking about and wish it had been there. That was the long pin for #5 I think. Definitely rough terrain right there.
