Baskets to go back June 1 2006
« on: May 19, 2006, 05:09:19 PM »
Just got off the phone with Dan the Man Cashen as he is heading to St. Louis to kick some butt, well him and Jami Danger in the Masters group.

Baskets are set to go in on June 1.  Not before.  I hope this helps

A little bird told me they were going back in on Saturday the 27th....

If this turns out to be true I think $5 random draw doubles on Sunday would be a great idea. Say 10ish? I'll do the paperwork and bring scorecards.

Anyone....  Buehler... anyone....

Too far away and starting too late in the day....that would make me miss prime boating and drinking time.

How about doing it at Prairie Center then I can cook for everyone at my place afterwards.....I have fresh Bud on tap...if your into that sort of thing...haha

As tempting as this sounds I think BV is where it's at this weekend since it's been out of play so long. Load that keg up and come on out...   8)

Tell your friends. Sunday at 10am - Random draw doubles at BV.

Of course we could always head to PC afterwards if there's any energy left....

Kevin, i also heard from the birdie that Saturday is the day for the baskets. : )
Count me in for Sunday as i will catch up with you around 11:00am.

On Saturday we will coordinate a work day at 9:00am with 25 community service workers and KCPD, KCPR and like always KCFDC members to direct and assist with the workers. Jim Kreeger, Dan Will and Tim have asked that we follow up with them and work on holes 5, and 14 where they have done a tremendous job of cutting brush.

Also we may paint the disc golf shelter if KCPR hasn't done it yet.
There are a lot of changes at BVP as the issues and concerns are being addressed by all community focused organizations.
Stay tuned as i will share the info after tonight's Blue Valley Park's meeting at 7:00pm

Damn this family reunion!!! You guys have some fun for me. I will be in Hays, Kansas for a family reunion. Hopefully Frontier Park is worth a hoot. How about two weekends in a row. I am sure everybody could use a little tune up before the Wide Open...

Dude, have fun in Hays. Frontier Park is a great course. One of my all time favorite layouts. I have been going out there to play the Ice Bowl and/or the Frontier Open for several years now and plan to go again in September. I know some guys that are planning to play there on Saturday. You should go to the KDGA discussion board to the Hays thread and set something up so you can find your way around the course.

Frontier Park is a very cool disc golf course. I love the set up of the fairways, lined with trees. Water in play on almost every hole. I had to go diving for my Roc, which was a success (soaking wet for the next hour. When my Banchee went in the next day, I declined its invitation for a dip. Some discs are more expendable than others. Sorry Nick.) Very cool. Have not played a course where water was actually a factor, with the exception of Ted's Dread. The short holes were a bit short for my tastes, but they still require a skilled shot in order to make par. I played all the holes from the gravel tees because I could not figure out which concrete pads went to which holes. However, this shorter set up still presents a decent challenge because THE WIND IS F*%#ING RIDICULUS!!! I have been to hays before, and it is pretty windy, but I am talking winds ranging 30-45+ MPH this weekend! Even a 150 foot hole can be hard to par in wind like this. 7 foot putt? The basket said no thank you more than a couple of times. I really like the layout of this course, and I bet it is even sweeter with the concrete pads. I just wish that I would not have lost my Champion Firebird on #6 at Rosedale last Thursday, it would have helped me out tremendously (Damn the green tye-dye!!!).

Big Thank You to Kevin for running doubles yesterday! The baskets are in and it was great to see a lot of golfers out and about. Too bad it took 5 hours for one round, pick up the pace and I don't mean salsa!

We had a cali player with us. An hour longer does seem extreme though... Thanks for waiting...

That course is a bad mofo. But nevertheless, 13 players showed up for a marathon round of doubles in the wind.

Leo D/Arturo - 61
Jamie/Who Man - 62
Tony D/Eric M- 62
Quintin/Doc - 62
House/Tracy W - 69
Kevin/Jim S - 77
Mark/Cali Morales - 78

Lots of other players on the course taking advantage of the pins being back in. Get out and give it a whirl if you have a day to spend. The place is looking awesome. Huge kudos to everyone involved in getting this course in the ground. It's a work of art, from the tee signs and tee pads to the mind boggling design. The National Tour players are gonna love this.

Don't take sheeot from that guy, if he would of searched for his "CLEAR" disc, that was last seen heading east towards St. Louis on hole 7 then we would of taken the same amount of time.

Thanks for running it Kev, and yes the course looked great.

The major standout to me was a distinct lack of trash cans of any sort. Near the shelter, pads, etc...  none.

Other than that the only thing I recall seeing that troubled me was trash all over near #3, all along the hillside down to the pond. It looked like it came from the shelter at the top of the hill. There had been a big picnic and the barrel was overflowing and blowing all over the place. That's pretty typical though.

Oh, and poison ivy... but that's always an issue.
