Question: How does a 987 rated player get to play Am Nats?
As long as you are an "am" haven't accepted cash, you can play in any am division you are eligible for.
http://www.pdga.com/files/documents/PlayerDivisionGridTable3.pdfAny rating is ok for Am players as long as they haven't received cash. Hence why Loomis turned down the "cash" in the Wide Open, kept that status for one last stake at the Am Nationals, and then made a decision to change to old man pro division.
I accepted cash last year in Olathe, but will not be accepting any this year so I will be requesting reclassification in September this year back to Am. My premise is that I am not that good, and I personally want to choose between Pro/Am worlds when the locations are not the same. I have played in both Pro and Am worlds in the same year, and would like to be able to do that again if the opportunity presents itself. More importantly, like this year for example, I would rather be playing Am's side to play more courses, or choose the location that I want to spend my disc golf summer camp experience.
