This is just my opinion but for safety sake why aren't tournaments started at 9am to alleviate the amount of heat we have to endure? Just for the hot months!

When you run an event, you can set the time there......don't bash those that do because they don't do it your way......

It's just his opinion and he's asking a question, where's the bashing.  This forum is an appropriate method to ask such questions.  Somebody needs thicker skin if that sort of question seems unreasonable.

I do not disagree with an earlier time as it does make it easier for dealing with the heat and getting completed with the event earlier so players can have some time to do other things but I hear more about starting the event at a later time so people do not have to get up as early.

Again I personally like earlier times but as a TD i also like to cater to my players and I have heard more about later start times than earlier start times.  That is why my events start when they do.  I am taking all of the comments into consideration and I have already been talking about a few changes to some of the DD events.  This event will remain as it is but future events will be adjusted accordingly.

I was just talkking about not having thick skin for this.......I just get a little irritated when people seem to point and offer suggestions and yet year after year haven't stepped up to run things.  Part of the reason that the Mighty MO vanished....sorry to thread digress, and Scott thanks to you for stepping up to help run the local events.

My remark wasn't just for DD tournaments it was a general comment.
Sorry for thread drifting but I tend to do it quite frequently.

10am starts this time of year (around Summer Solstice) are doable.  But there is still the risk of running out of daylight due to delays.   I thought the 8:30am starts for KWCO this year were perfect.  Everyone was done and able to enjoy their evenings each day.  Catering to player interests is great. But a TD's primary duty is to ensure the event runs smoothly and to completion. As a TD, I'd much rather here grumblings about early morning starts than to have to deal with a rain shortened/cancelled afternoon round.

well said tracy.  though with this tourney being unsanctioned i would tend to be less worried about that situation.  if sanctioned tourney, absolutely tee earlier rather than later.

I like 9am starts... not too interested at being at the course that late, and keep in mind to people that have traveling to do...
