Like the Subject says:

Only July 3, 2012 at 5:00pm the Kearney Parks and Rec and the Mayor of Kearney, MO are going to be cutting the ribbon on the Newest course in Kansas City Metro, Jesse James Disc Golf Course in Kearney, MO.

I'm asking that anyone available at this time please try to come out and support this opening. I really want to show a taste of the Disc Golf community we have in town. The Kearney residents, from what I've heard, are really taking to the course and also the sport in general. They are very excited about Disc Golf and the Northland in general, if you haven't noticed, is taking an interest in our sport.

The Ceremony will last all of 15-20 miins. Immediately following we will head out on the course and play a round. This will be very informal so please either bring some people to play with or find a group and jump in. Even if you can not play I ask that everyone show their support by just being there for the Ceremony. After the sun goes down that evening the Parks and Rec will be having their yearly Fireworks display as well.

Directions to Jesse James from KC:

I-35N to Hwy 92 (THE Kearney Exit)
Turn Right (East)
At Jeffereson Street (3 Stop Lights, You'll see a Country V Mart on left) take a Left.
The course will be approx 2.5 miles on your right. You will see the course before you see the entrance to the park.
When you pull into the park continue to the very back of the park until you see the signs that say Disc Golf and Soccer Parking.
The Parking Lot is in the grass.

If you have any questions please ask.

WARNING! There is still quite a bit of Poison IVY along the edges of the course. If you are allergic please take necessary procautions. BUJI is a great cream that helps block the IVY, OAK, SUMAC. The P&R are going to making an effort to try to eradicate as much as possible over the next year but this will take time so please be careful. If you stay on the fairway you shouldn't have any problems :).

Thank You!

Should be a fun course.  Ted says its his favorite; but, I think he is biased because it is his home away from home course!

Old Pike League players should take a field trip to Kearney next Tuesday instead of Old Pike league.  Please come out to Kearney and promote disc golf in the northland!  Kevin V can't make it to Kearney and will likely get some sort of casual game going at Old Pike.

I'm sure I could learn, but not as I am playing HAHA I can't just donate my money like I do to the Casinos!!

I wish I could make this ribbon cutting ceremony though, but I work until 5pm....any way I can still make the round of disc golf?? I can leave Fort Leavenworth at 5pm and try to make it there in record time!

This is an informal thing, so if you can get out there and play a round that evening then it'll will just show the parks and rec that people are playing it and that is the important thing. It will be a busy site I'm sure with the fireworks going on that night so be prepared.

I threw two rounds(59 and 54) this morning and found it to be a fun and challenging.  Not a very long course so a weenie arm like myself could get some reward for well placed shots.  I'll definitely go back

Just a reminder that TONIGHT July 3, 2012 is the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Jesse James. It will Start at 5pm and last maybe 15mins. Then we play some golf. If you have some time and don't mind a little drive I would appreciate it if you came. I really want to show Kearney how much our community stands behind disc golf. Thank you in advanced.

I'm planning on being there.  Is there anything we should know about parking?

There is a Disc Golf / Soccer parking lot that has a sign that says just that. Go to the back of the park and you'll see it. Hard to miss. It's in the grass.
