8/20/12 League-back to form
« on: August 20, 2012, 11:56:33 AM »
I am going to try to move a few pins if I can get there in time.  If you have a key and can move them, I would like to move the following:
#2-Long
#4-Rocks
#7-Long
#8-Long
#10-Right (Short, we need to see if that placement got fixed ok)
#14-Long Left (Same side of the road)

That's enough for today.

Not sure I will get there in time, but if I do, I'll move what I can.

FYI, 2 and 14 have been moved, so there's just the remainder on that list to do still. Didn't have time to get to the rest of them.

Thanks to Ryan and Keizer most of all the placements were moved to the longer setting.  Seems appropriate as we lose light huh?

:-)

Highlights of my night were starting off with a 6, but only having 3 holes over 3 (had a 4-5&6), then as Ryan and I approached the green on #18, a ruckus happened right in front of us about 15' away, and a baby deer that was hiding in the grassy knoll made its way down to #9 and down the rock's.  Ryan was mad that he couldn't eat it.  I was scared, but then the realization that this weekend had a motley bunch of Lion's that would have devoured the poor thing possibly miss the entire episode since we didn't use that hole.

Jose had to "flea" the league night, and Arturo was the only person under a 54 on the night, though Matt Crowe was able to keep it at 54 it wasn't enough.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and next week I would like to be sending people off by 5:45 and in 3-somes where we can.  Since we lost Jose, I was able to get the truck back down there and finish removing all the trash around the stage area, and clean up the trash on #1.

Oddly enough, (and would have thought it could happen here?) someone has dropped off about 150 old bricks along the fairway of #8.  I hope to be able to use them as part of a walkway to the staging area, but found it odd that the dumping still continues this far into the season.  Alas, it shall be items used to make the area more beautiful!

Results:
Arturo-52=$12
Matt Crowe-54=$9
Jack Lowe-56
Nick Parks-58
Derek-63
Ryan Westa-68
Jose Ossa-Fleed

Ace Fund at $230

Isn't the word "alas" usually used like the word "fraught", as in followed by something negative or undesirable? If the bricks can be used for a good thing, then you could have used a word like "fortunately", or a phrase like "as luck would have it".

Yeah, so we can use my mom's tiller that just got out of the shop and make a nice brick path either to the stage or from the pad down to the stairs.

So you don't like my usage of the phrase.....I am ok with that!  But yeah, Alas we found a use for the bricks that were unfortunately put in a location that required additional work.  The advantage of the bricks that were of a fine specimen of years gone past was that they could be incorporated in the working parameters of the course.

Sorry, dude, not trying to nitpick. It's just that your misuse of the word "alas" reminded of a quote I read a few years back:

"Many words can follow 'fraught', but always they come with 'with', and none of them are good. You'll never see, "Fraught with puppies" for instance."
