2013 Kansas City Team Challenge - June 1-2, 2013

<< < (8/50) > >>

Tracy:
Based on the experience we had last year when finalizing the teams with lottery and captains picks, I am going to slightly adjust the makeup of the squads.  Below defines team composition:

* Must be active KCFDC club members and KC region residents.  (this is loosely enforced. it's basically in place to prevent bringing in ringers from outside the area.)
* I thought about reducing the requirement for women to just 1, but decided that is lame. We just need to get the ladies excited about taking part in this fun event. So again for 2013, 2 women per squad is required.
* I will be reducing the number of required masters aged players from 4 (in 2012) to just 3 this year.
* Each captain gets a spot.
* That means there will be 10 unrestricted spots on each team.
* 5 starting spots on each team can be hand picked by their captain.
* Each team is recommended to carry 2 alternates.  Alternates can be used at will to start any round. (within class restrictions)Rough draft of West Side qualifiers:
* Final scores at the 2013 Kan-U-Wyco, 3 invitations will be offered for unrestricted players and 2 for Masters (40+). (declined invites will go to the next best score in that class). Last year I balked at using PDGA events as qualifiers.  But with Wyco hosting the Saturday dubs round of the Team Challenge, I think it appropriate to award some spots for those capable of playing well on the tourney setup.
* Four invitations (3 unrestricted, 1 masters and 1 woman) will be offered for top scores at the regular Summer mini event at Water Works May 9th

I would recommend that you have named alternates in case someone doesn't show up.  Another suggestion, would be to consider increasing the number of participants, maybe 18 per team.

EAST SIDE!

The WEST side is so worried about their team, that they are mapping it already!  I don't blame them, they got beat worse than a red headed step child at the Ice Bowl by a World Champ!

:-p

EEEEEEAAAST siDE!!!

Why not just a straight up multi day tourney and take the total scores from both teams and the low number wins? Keeping it simple makes sense, and would more clearly identify the stronger team. (West)

jack:
I don't care that much, just couldn't resist the EAST SIDE dominance!

Tracy, I agree entirely with your thoughts on this, and appreciate the efforts.  I only hope to be able to help the East Side again this year, and hopefully not injure myself to give Loomis a false feeling of hope! :P
