Tracy:
The snow storm threw quite the monkey wrench into my plans. I was hoping to get the broken pins replaced this weekend. Not happening. My availability next weekend will be limited as my son is playing in a Basketball tournament. I don't know his schedule yet. But as soon as I do. I'll post a time when I'd like to get out the course for that pin work. Everything else will have to be done as I can get to it during the week before the event.
Scott is expanding the event to 100 players. We could probably ghost card on 11 and 14 as holes 10 and 13 will generally have two groups on them. However, ghost carding is discouraged by the PDGA. As such Scott and I are going to walk the course next week to figure out how/where we're going to squeeze in two alternate holes. My ideas would use the space north of the pond to add two holes between 14 and 15. Anyway, we'll post in the event forum the final 1st round layout, once it has been determined.

I mentioned to Scott that I don't particularly like to add holes, but that I understand wanting to support growth of interest in competition locally. As such, 2 additional holes will be added.
Weather is really messing with my plans for preparing the course. I may have to take a day off on Friday to get everything done in that window of opportunity.

We'll be playing 14 to the short position. Then walking to the NW to 14a tee; par 3 to the old long left 14 placement. Then another short walk over to the road to 14b tee; short par 3 to the long 14 pin. Over to 15 tee and proceed as normal.

I call BS. But what do I know.... We resisted adding temp holes at this tourney for years and I don't agree that "support growth of interest in competition locally" is a valid reason. Events are going to fill, period. Are they going to make 18 hole courses 20-24 holes very time they get a great response to an event?
Although, as I give it more thought, the two holes you are talking about adding do hearken back to the early days of the course. Too bad you can't go with the par four original #14 from the existing #14 pad to to the original pin down by the big oak tree. And for the extra hole shoot across the pond from near #14 long pin to the #14 short pin which was like the original #15. If you did that to add one hole then you could put the second extra somewhere else, like play #17 short and from there play from in the woods just up from the short pin to #17 long pin for a short but technical lefty friendly par three. If you gotta screw with the perfection that is WyCo make it special. Or maybe I'm just being too sentimental.... :-[
