Handicap possible?
« on: May 21, 2015, 12:58:07 pm »
Going to be playing with some Open and Advance players for experience.

Is it reasonable to say a 10 point difference in ratings suggest a 1 stroke equality?

For example, I'm a 908 playing a 980 player.

Would it be reasonable to calculate "roughly" a 7 stroke handicap for me?

Or is there more to it?

Thoughts, ideas, comments appreciated.

On a standard SSA course, yes 10 points typically equates to 1 stroke.

On e higher SSA course, say Blue Valley Long, 10 points is more like 1.2 to 1.4 strokes.  On an easy course, say Rosedale set short, or Swope set short on short pads, 10 point is more like 0.7 strokes.

For most courses in our area it would be about 1 stroke.
