What course(s) will be used for the KC Team Challenge/E vs.W?

It is usually kept secret or undecided up until about a month before the event.

Re: 2015 KC Schedule and surrounding area (2015 Ledgestone Update)
« Reply #62 on: February 23, 2015, 03:24:35 pm »
If you add Columbia, you need to add Des Moines....better course IMO for Des Moines (better=more and variety) than Columbia, but I love Columbia as well, and encourage them both as "must go to" events.

There's a bit of a drive time difference on those. If we add Des Moines, then we had better all go play Ledgestone Insurance Open in Peoria this year.

The 2015 Ledgestone Insurance Open presented by Discraft is taking things to a new level. Yesterday evening it was announced on SmashboxxTV’s weekly podcast that this year’s event would have a mind-boggling $65,000 of added cash! You may be thinking, was that too many zeroes? No, it wasn’t. This year’s event will add a staggering amount of cash to the event, essentially making it the richest payout in the history of the sport. “With a full field of professional players, the pro purse will be just shy of $115,000”, said tournament director Nate Heinold #49340.

Registration opens 3/2/15 at 7PM CST for any player rated 990 and above as of the most recent ratings update. Registration opens for everyone else 3/4/15 at 7PM CST.

“The amateur players will have the best player’s pack in the country. I truly have lost count of how many discs are in the player’s pack (it’s at least 8) and it also includes a shirt, metal mini, trotter box, and more. Also, not $1 will come out of the amateur entry fees to pay for tournament expenses or the player’s packs. Every dollar of their entry fee will go into their payout,” stated Heinold.

The Recreation division will pay out a whopping 80% of the players in the division, while the Advanced division will give $500 to the winner assuming a full field of players. Do not miss the opportunity to play in one of the biggest tournaments of the year!

Jack always trying to "put in a plug."   ;)  Oh I'm sure you'll do fine Jack if a half dozen or so venture out east to this event.  I've only posted it since the sign-ups are next week.  I didn't mean to "rain on the LDO" Jack.

I think it's funny that someone is throwing money at one tournament with the hopes that it will truly grow the sport. All it does, IMHO, is just hold a high standard for payout the following year. And as for sustainability... uh huh. I hope it does well and they prove me wrong but this isn't the first time someone attempted it and won't be the last I assume.

I want to know what they are doing with the money? Is it just payout? Welp, that doesn't do anything but make a few people happy. Or are they using half of it to say actually put on a huge event? Players packs have a bunch of discs in it? Wow. And a shirt? Is someone pulling my leg? Again, I hope it does something great for the sport. But I bet it only does great things for one weekend. Please discuss. Argue with me. I would love to hear what other people think.

I don't know what it will do for the sport.  I think that the LDO does a great job of promoting the sport, giving back to the players, to the park, and the community as a whole.  That is my take on the LDO.

Far from a tourney....but we claim to have winners....more of a birthday party for all the Leo's.  Hence the name.  Dick Parker came to the planet a few years after me on the same day....on top of that there are MANY individuals in the disc golf scene that are Leo's.  So we throw a party at Cliff Drive, which also happens to be a Leo yearly.

See it's not a tourney....  ;D
