Yeah Andy, I thought that was odd that the basket was gone. It wasnt there when we arrived at 2pm on Sun.

Tom believes it was in place Sat morning, and I noticed it gone at 11:30 Sunday...so we have the time frame window....too bad the city doesn't have cameras at park entrances.

This is like an every other week occurrence in Springfield, MO. Lets just be glad we aren't in that predicament. Thieves suck, no other way around it.

what type of locks do you have on them?  Were there any remnants of a lock there to indicate how it was stolen?

City supplied master key lock...still in place and locked. No metal shavings or damage to the pin..very odd, almost like the lock was picked then replaced.  They got the entire basket with lock collar and all.  We noticed yesterday but waited so Tom could ask the city if they had it, city checked it out and a filed report with police.

It was locked. I personally set the basket in place and locked it down. I triple checked it. It was most probably picked.

If they were picked, you are in trouble, because they can easily get more of them..... :-[

No, the thieves will be in trouble. Let's just say that extreme measures are in place and an example will be made of the scum bags that steal our baskets.

I noticed there was a warning written on the practice basket saying it is equipped with GPS tracking... I'm aware the warning MIGHT dissuade a potential thief, but I'd imagine it serves more as a label to assure they remember to look for it and remove it.

...just a thought. I don't have any thieving experience but it just kind of seemed odd to me to label something like that.
