Doubles was fun Monday night.  Even though somebody didn't have a good time.  Thanks, Bob for an enjoyable round.  I know if we would've made some puts we could've taken Arturo and his partner.  Had a good time and that's what this game is all about.

It's over and done....can we move past this or do we need to keep trying to prove our opinions?

The league director made the call.........some people got screwed....some people smelled like roses......I guess if my $5 was worth that much to me, I would have been working instead of playing.

If you have handicaps on all the players, giving out different amounts of strokes per player for 2 or 3 different levels can be a more fair way of playing "random" doubles.

Correct. Exceptions cause problems. That was not my call though. In fact, when Bob said that, I said everyone has to learn to play Cali sometime, and if he did get it, he should play it and learn from the experience.

Bad luck flipping discs for partners
« Reply #13 on: September 06, 2006, 11:04:48 PM »
It's a miracle James is even alive, let alone playing disc golf.  I'm amazed how far he's come considering he was never supposed to come out of a coma.  He just started playing disc golf a few months ago, and not long before that his little brother Jon dragged him out to the course for the first time it took him seven hours to walk nine holes, and he could only throw a disc about ten feet.  His first league participation was a little over a month ago he shot an 85, he's already down to a 69.  I asked him before the round if he ended up cali would he participate, he said no.  I don't blame him.  Then he kept flipping and got cali twice in a row so we re-flipped each time.  Next time I'll bring a deck of cards so we don't have to flip.  Next time you see James (can't miss him he's a BIG man of 415 lbs) thank him from the bottom of your heart and give him huge encouragement, he's actually regained feeling in his arms (had no feeling after the coma).  I believe disc golf has had a positive healing effect as well as helping lose substantial weight.  He was a tremendous football player in high school.  I would not be surprised if he continues to improve his disc golf game we may all be wishing we're teamed up with him in doubles a year or two from now.  Later...Bob Hayett
