Old Settlers Open 2013 - August 31st
« on: July 23, 2013, 08:55:45 PM »
This year is the 4th Old Settlers Open.  8)

We are excited to be using BOTH Olathe courses this year, and everyone will play one round at PC and one round at Lakeside Hills. The courses are only 5 minutes apart, and it should be a great day. You can sign up on-line, or in person on a Monday league, or at any of the DD retail stores.

If you can't play but want to be part of the event, we can use some volunteers spotting and doing water duty to, so just see me sometime in the next few weeks to let me know your availability.

in case you needed more reason to attend the Old Settlers Open, here is 556 of them.  The Rolling Ace Pool from the KC Mini Series starts at $556, plus whatever is added from the $5 Ace Pool.  This Ace Pot could be pretty big for Old Settlers.

I'm looking for spotters......

Registrations are starting to happen. Let's fill this puppy up.  :)

PC will be set in medium/easy difficulty, Bird will be as easy as always...  ;)

Hi Tom:

A couple of questions:

1)  Will the short placement at Lakeside Hills Hole #1 be in place by tournament time?  Will it be used?
2)  Are we accepting more than 90 to utilize both courses simultaneously?

The tourney position for hole 1 at Bird will be the long pin. (where it's been since opening).

If I have time and am able to, I will be installing a super short 4, a long 6, and a long 18, and if in, chances are those will be used for the OSO.

I like the course as is.
4 is a great hole. A short pin might be fun (ace run?)
6 long? tough distance already, especially for right hand back hand throwers.
And 18 is a tough challenge already. Got to hit a small hole at the right angle far away.
I would understand a longer 6 and 18 for an A tier or NT. Using long settings for the Pro divisions . . .

Just my opinion. And I am still new to the sport, so my opinion is based on limited experience.

I agree with Harold.  Hole #6 is already long.  As for #4, I like the idea of a short pin.  I still think it needs to be opened up top so there is somewhat of a chance at the existing pin.....but then again, I don't work for the Dirty Bird design team.  :-D

Is Prairie Center currently in the configuration that will be used for the OSO?

I'm still working on it. Both courses will be in position by next Sunday (hopefully).

I want the following please:
Can we ask that you do everything that is posted and get it done to the couple of us on the forum chat rooms for the OSO.

If so, would you do it in conjunction with the needs based solely on my opinion, and not those of the TD?

 ;D

C'mon guys let him run the courses as he sees fit, it is his event, he is running it.  The phrase too many cooks in the kitchen comes to mind.

Tom, Cindy and Gus, (then all those other helpers too) thanks for taking all the time out of your life for some people to enjoy throwing plastic at metal chains.  Without the tireless efforts of you and your family, the time given away from your family, many wouldn't even be asking such silly questions.  I am sorry for one that you must read requests from people that aren't helping with the input.  I am thankful though that you take the time to acknowledge and work towards helping our entire community play our sport.

I thank all of you for the work being done, and continuation of projects to improve the courses.  Do as you see fit, make it as you want it, and others will enjoy it.  It ultimately boils down to dedication and work for many others that goes unthanked, and I for one want to say thank you.

 ;D

Tom and Harold-C'mon let him do what he wants to.  This isn't the Harold and Tom Open!

Registrations are starting to pick up with less than 2 weeks to go.  The course is looking great and this will be an awesome time as usual showcasing two great courses.
