Great tourney, DD...as usual.  Lakeside was much better than I expected being as new as it is.  Some of those holes are crazy...but in a challenging, good way.  PC was a lot more cleared out than last year... looked really good.  I still think 12 should be a par 4 tho :P  And a great shout out to G$ for hearing my phone/picking it up....much appreciated.
Sorry to hear about your luck!!!   :P

it's not often I have the highest pdga number in my field - 3628, but it happened today with cd, bruce, hal and bill! thanks olatheans for your hospitality and well groomed courses. andy lewis deserves some ace money!

Bill Paulson played on our Masters bottom feeder card the second round and I must say, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and a pretty darn good disc golfer.  Warming up with him before the second round at Lakeside, I saw him 3 Hole #1 with 2 incredibly long drives.  Glad I got to meet that guy.

I had a great time.  It was my first time playing the lake course and second time at PC.

Here are some things I noticed as a first timer at the lake course:

  • The rolling terrain, mature trees and lake in the background made it a beautiful place to spend the morning.
  • It's a lot of land to keep groomed and everything looked well kept.
  • I love that disc golf permanently took over land that club-swingers failed to manage effectively.
  • I found it challenging that many tee pads were tucked back in a shady nook which eliminated angles I would have preferred to use for my drive
  • It seemed like the tee pads were smaller than I'm used to practicing on at Rosedale?

Edit:

And congratulations to Andy for winning Intermediate.  We were on the same card first round at the lake and he was frustrated after missing a few putts.  Way to shrug it off and kill at PC!

I do enjoy playing Birdland, only thing I really don't like are the handful of tweener holes out there. Need to shorten a few or stretch them out another hundred feet and call them par 4's. Hole 1 is a great opening hole!

Well ran event and seemed that everything went off without a hitch...!

#14 comes to mind as a tweener. You'd need a 550 foot hyzer bomb to get a 2, but it's a really easy 3 with just a hyzer and an upshot.

That was a fun tourney.  It is nice to have two challenging courses in a tourney that close to each other.

Thanks to Quinnie for the great hospitality and to all of the guys that put in the hard work out there.

I'm glad Bures, Webber, Zane, and Crowe played Open.  I think a few more tourneys where you are donating to the Matt Perry college fund is going to push your game to a higher level very quickly, keep it up.

Thanks for the critique and positive comments. The course will continue to improve, I hope. It's a lot of real estate to manage fo sure.  8)

The boxes are 10' long. I had asked the City to make them 12' long, but 10' is what we got.  :(

The tweeners will be addressed over time. Eventually, 2, 3, 4, 6, 11, 8, 12, 14, 16, and 18 will all get an additional 75' to 150' in length. 1, 4, 11 will all get a shorties as well.

The hangy down limbs within 15'-20' of the pin on 14 will be fertilized and nurtured.  :P

Maybe the Club Championships weekend can have a round there? The rough may be to extreme again by then, so the BOD or CC TD will need to evaluate it prior to deciding.... :-\

Thanks again players for coming to the 4th OSO.

I agree.  If it's not a birdie hole, it's an easy three.  It doesn't leave you much to work with if you're trying to make up strokes on someone.  I love playing the course, but the tweener holes make it an upshot contest.

Loved the tournament and had a blast playing it!  Unfortunately for me, two holes did me in.  Two holes out of 36.  Ouch.

Observation:   I didn't see the tournament on PDGA.com

I look forward to seeing the course develop over time, the land is amazing.

You have to go back to August to find it.
