17th Rosedale Amateur Championships - October 6
« on: September 13, 2013, 04:51:03 PM »
It's the time of the year for the 17th Annual Rosedale Amateur Championships, which will be played on the top course at Rosedale Park on October 6. This event has evolved through the years to become a fairly laid-back event with an emphasis on welcoming newer players to the world of competitive disc golf though extra attention to explaining the rules and procedures of disc golf. In addition, we will have several pros in attendance to share their knowledge as well. You can download an entry form here.

To further enhance each player's experience, we're still looking for additional sponsors. Sponsorship can be money, gift certificates, discs, shirts, beer, etc. We hope to have a nice selection of prizes to give away via throw-offs and/or CTPs. If interested, please download a sponsorship form here.

And finally, here's a fun look at the results from all the RACs from 2000-2012. Regrettably, we haven't yet found the data from the first four events, but the other 12 are in here. This was the first event for many of the players listed, including some who have kept playing events, often with much success. The file is an Excel spread sheet.

If you have any questions about playing or sponsorship or anything else, please call 816.471.3472 or write to info@discgolfworld.com.

IMHP... (that's a contradiction in itself)
If you win it once.  You shouldn't play it again. ...
Unless you're a rec player. ... or  mentally challenged.
Let the "delete Mike's post" count down begin... :'(

i don't understand your thinking, you say don't support this tournament just because you won your division before,so should that go for all tournaments that you play in,win and never play it again

If you win the amateur division .IMHP you should move up to Open.
That's what I think.  If you want to hang around and not challenge yourself, and keep collecting prizes , then knock yourself out.  I'm gonna look down my nose at you. I'm just saying.
I won it the first year then got my a $$ kicked in open for the next couple years. Made me a better player. Mediocrity shouldn't win In any Division.

 My  .02 cents

I have never played; so I have never Won this event. Does this mean I can drop from Open and play it this year and every year after until I win it....Just so I can support this event.

I'll start with the Rec Division this year ;)

The RAC uses PDGA ratings, non-PDGA tournament results, and anecdotal evidence as provided from players with no tournament records in an attempt (perhaps quixotic) to make each division as competitive as we can. Thus, for the Am 1 (AKA Advanced) Division where the best players will be, no one with a rating that exceeds 970 is allowed. I'm not  concerned if they have accepted cash in a PDGA event or won this event previously, as long as their current rating is below 971. What this means it that Joe, with his stellar 995 rating, is no longer eligible for the RAC. I had to go to my sources at the PDGA to find out that Mike, who was last active in the PDGA in 2003, now sports a 971 rating, again too high for the RAC. As for Jamie "Everyone-Is-A-Sandbagger" Barry, who plays professionally as a Grandmaster, he is too good to play against the Rac-eligible GMs, but with his 954 rating, can chew up or try to chew up the younger guys in the Am 1 division.

Registration is now around 30 players. We'll be ordering the shirts early next week, so getting in before then will ensure you get the shirt size you want. You can download an entry form here.

In other news, we're please to announce that Grip-EQ is now a sponsor. We'll be giving away a Grip Bag via a raffle. Details to follow.

Is this thing capped at 90 players?

I won't have money to register until next Friday (the 4th) likely, I don't want to lose a spot.

Hey Rick, can you give me an estimate on what a typical 850-899 shoots at Rosedale? I guess my question is should I go to Rec or the Novice. Since i have not played in a tourney besides the club championships last year I would think that I should just start at the bottom and work my way up?
