2005 ST. LOUIS OPEN - May 21&22 - $1,000 added cash - B
« on: April 20, 2005, 07:35:59 PM »
The St. Louis Disc Golf Club and Gateway Disc Sports proudly present the 2005 ST.LOUIS OPEN. Our goal is to make this into a premier "A" tier event for 2006. We want to put St. Louis on the map as a regular stop for the touring pros and amateurs as well.

Here is a link for the flyer:
http://www.rcfdiscgolf.com/docs/flyers/2005_TheSt.LouisOpen_Flyer.pdf

Our current Sponsors are Gateway Disc Sports, New Belgium Brewery, Innova and Johnny Macs Sporting Goods.

Come play 3 awesome courses: Jefferson Barracks, Endicott and Sioux Passage. Our club has been hard at work the last few years with updates. We have new baskets, concrete tee pads, tee signs, bridges, stone walls and multiple pin placements at Endicott. We've added concrete tee pads, tee signs and multiple pin placements at Jefferson Barracks as well. Sioux Passage is next for concrete pads and new tee signs.

- We have $1,000 cash added to the Pro Purse.
- Players pack for Ams includes a Gateway Disc Sport disc and a new                  Innova Sidewinder.
- 2 Innova Discatchers Sport Catchers – One free throw for a basket.
- Plenty of New Belgium products – Party on Saturday Night at Endicott

WE HAVE A BONUS THAT IS NOT ON THE FLYER

"Our club ace pool currently at $500 for the first ace and over $400 for the second ace will be open for this event for club members." Yes, anyone who is not a club member can join for $20 and receive a golf disc and bag tag and be in the ace pool.

Please feel free to print out the flyer and post at your home course. We hope to attract players from all over the Midwest. We especially would like to have players in from KC, Peoria, Columbia, Mexico and Bowling Green.

Can anyone beat “The Kid”, Justin Bunnell on his home courses?

Look forward to seeing some old friends and making some new ones. Hope to see you there,

Ray Vuichard,
Operations Manager
St. Louis Disc Golf Club

ST. LOUIS OPEN DISC GOLF TOURNAMENT
May 21 & 22 – PDGA B-tier

Disc golf in St. Louis has gone through some dramatic changes in the last few years. Area players have come together as a team in the River City Flyers Disc Golf Club. Course improvements at Endicott and Jefferson Barracks have been nothing short of miraculous. We should all be proud to be a part of an organization that is giving back to the community by improving the courses not only for ourselves, but also for casual players and for the next wave of new golfers to enjoy.

One of the River City Flyers’ goals is to have an A-tier in 2006 and a National Tour stop here by 2008. In order to get to that level of tournament, we need to have a solid attendance this year. We are aiming for 72+ combined in the amateur divisions and 35+ combined in the pro divisions. We know we will have a handful of out of town players. If at least half of our current club members come to play, we will crush our attendance goal. This tournament will be the biggest disc golf event in the history of St. Louis. If you can only make one event this year, please make this the one.

The entrance fee is higher than our normal $15 for club events. We followed the PDGA guidelines for entrance fees for a B-tier event. The payout and structure is more like an A-tier event though. Here is what you get with your entrance fee:

* Gateway E or H plastic disc.
* Innova Champion Sidewinder (am divisions only)
* $1000 sponsorship driven money added to the payout (pro divisions only)
* Johnny Mac’s disc golf shirt
* One free throw to win a basket
* Free beer at Endicott on Saturday, at SP on Sunday, courtesy of New Belgium. (21+)
* No cost CTP’s for prizes (am divisions)
* Club ace pool is alive.
* Portable Innova basket to the winner of Advanced AM division
* Most importantly, a great chance to compete in the toughest layouts on the best courses in St. Louis.

We are requesting that everyone pre-registers. This will help us run the tournament on time, as you would expect at an A-tier event. There are three ways to pre-register:

* On the website at www.stldiscgolf.com and pay via pay pal
* Fill out the entry form on the website and mail in your entry fee.
* Register at the doubles from 5pm to 8pm at Jefferson Barracks on May 20.

Saturday registration from 7 to 9am at Jefferson Barracks - $5 late fee applies.
No registration after 9am on Saturday.

Most of the information on the tournament can be found at www.stldiscgolf.com. Please feel free to print flyers and hand them out to your friends.

Hope to see you there!
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call any one of us.

Sincerely,
Andy Klaasmeyer, Ray Vuichard, Scott Galvin, Mike Fritz and Dave McCormack.

Got the last of the course improvements done at Sioux Passage yesterday. This beautiful park got stretched to its Gold Tee positions totalling around 9144 feet. The course is fairly open but requires accurate approaches as well as Big D. The rough spots are lots more forgiving than Ozark Mountain. The park did a great job manicuring the fairways. If you don't show, you are scared. Par around 64.
